Guys, does anybody have any experiance with pulling the 4.1 out with the Manual 3 speed attached? Is there enough room for it come out easy or is it a pain due to the extra lenght of the V6? No A/C or brake boost in the truck What is easiest, leaving the trans in the truck and pulling the engine only, or pulling it all out togeher? Of course this is assuming fan and radiator are our of the truck Thanks again/Scott
When I pulled my 4.3L/700R4, I pulled the front clip (fenders, hood, core support) off as one piece. That made it much easier to disconnect everything from the engine and pull both engine and trans at the same time. The 4.3 is a V6 however, not an inline 6 like the 4.1; but without the front clip the only things to get in the way are the engine mounts and the cab.
That would be the easy way as said above with both set up's , and if you do not have a hoist. I would take off the front wheels put some old rims under the splndles drop it down on them to give more room for the picker once your getting ready to left the motor out.
