I have what I think is a 60-63 truck with the deluxe heater anybody know where the cable that goes into the heater box under the hood goes I can't seem to find the place where the cable goes??? Dave}>
If that box is anything like the 64-66, it should attach to an air door that allows you to flow fresh air into the cab without going through the heater core first. On the 64-66 the air door lever comes out of the box right by the firewall on the passenger side. Hope this helps! Leon
I think he line I am looing for is fo the heat not the fresh air and I can't igure ou without taking the whole heater apart under the hood where it goes. Dave
i think there is a small 1 by 3 inch flap thingy on top of the actual heater. The cable hooks under that flap and opens the water valve. If there isnt a small hole with a flap/plate on it, then you have to take off the top plate and you chould see where it hooks. tony
I have a '65 with deluxe heat. I just spent the afternoon messing with it to get the fan to work. Mine has three levers on the dash. the first (from left to right) operates the defroster/heat. It's cable runs to the box below the dash and operates a valve that alters the flow of hot air to either the windshield (defrost) or into the cab (normal heat). The second lever operates the fan. In the top position hot air flows relatively slowly into the cab (or defrost if #1 is in the up position). In the center position it triggers the slow speed of the fan. In the bottom position is triggers the high speed of the fan. The third lever operates the heat. It's cable controls a flap on the side of the heater in the engine compartment. If you look on the upper left side you should see the cable (exiting the firewall) attached to an arm which controls the flap. Hope this helps. As for me, After finding out I had power to the fan I ended up removing it. The truck is a California truck so maybe the fan wasn't used that often and I found that it was siezed. I flooded it with WD40 and contact cleaner and finally got it to work again. After I reinstalled everything I discovered that the slow speed of the fan wasn't working. I'm gonna order a new resistor from Chevy Duty and hopefully that'll fix it. If not I'll check out the dash switch next. jeffrey
