Sounds like a 700 r4. The plug is for locking up the torque convertor while in 4 th gear. It should bolt up to your motor. You will need to get a kit that will lock up the convertor for you. Then you will have to go through the whole tv set up, which is fairly easy.

Yes, that is the 700R4 tranny and yes, the plug in the tailshaft is for an electronic speedometer. It can be changed to a cable driven speedometer fairly easily. This website shows how:

Johan, I installed a 700R4 into my c10, fresh rebuild & followed the TV made easy install... 3,000km later its TOAST... further research I found out the mounts that I used for the TV cable to the carbeurator were not the correct adapters and wasn't allowing the proper fluid pressures in the 700R4 EVEN though the TV cable was "set" correctly.

long story short, purchase the proper throttle linkage adapter for 700R4, purchase the proper TV cable "mount" for the carb base and I would also suggest having a tranny shop "check" your TV made easy set up... cost me my $1000 fresh beefed up rebuilt tranny! (currently replacing the tranny with a stock junk yard unit & paying a tranny shop to check fluid pressure)

    my 3 cents

by the way, I still gotta get up to Varney to see your rig!

    Cheers
