i just got a nice 87 chevy in pretty good shape but the headlight switch knob is missing.
Does the knob come on the shaft?
How does the shaft come out of the switch?
    thanks

Take the face plate (Bezel) off . If you do not have A/c take your hand put in the hole to the left off the headlight switch. Press small button in the center hold it down then with your other hand pull out the shaft.

Also, you can reach under the dash and feel for the button on the headlight switch. Push and hold the button in, while pulling on the headlight knob. The knob and shaft will pull completely out.

Thanks David. I was having trouble. the picture helped a lot. I couldn't see in there very well and I wasn't sure what to feel for. Now is there an "EASY" button for getting the grill out also?
