I went to a fleemarked last week in Oslo "Ekeberg marked" is actually one off the biggest in Scandinavia.http://www.norskveteranvognklubb.no/ekeberg/ekeberg.html My friend Andrzej and me where looking for some spesific parts for the chevy truck and we went to the Noregian chevy club stand to ask and to get some advice from the old chevy guys. There whas a chevy truck modell C 10 standing there and i noticed the owner had sprayed the pickupbox with black hard splashpaint on it . It is protecting very well but in my opioin not so nice to look at? The Qestion is really if there finds any preformed material in the marked to protect the box with? Martinius
In Dixieland we have Rhino Linner and Line X are popular spray on liners. Some colors are available. They are good to put on the inside of the fenders to prevent rocks from chipping the paint. There are a lot of preformed liners for the newer trucks but none for older trucks.
Be careful of drop in bed liners if very tiny bit of metal isn't covered with a good paint. They trap moisture between the liner and bed metal. We've sand blasted truck beds for nearby body shops that had a lot of rust that was revealed when the liner was removed for whatever reason. If one knew that the paint would never be exposed to UV rays then POR-15 would protect well.
The need of a preformed liner Hey again I am glad some of you people are intresting talking about this issue. To day i forwarded this letter to CPOA and w`ll see what they answer? Sinc.Martinius Classic Parts of America 1 Chevy Duty Drive Kansas City, MO 64150 Hov 18.05.2009 To the Owners of Classic Parts of America As a regualar parts buyer i have very good experiences with your compagny. The service is excellent and the technicall information is mostly very good.Thank you fore that. At Classic parts forum the 1947-54 truck people have been discussing the need of a preformed liner, and we are aware of that there are a lot of preformed liners for the newer trucks but none for older trucks. How is that come, should `nt there be a marked fore a kind of product,i s it difficult to produce or are the production costs to big ? I really dont know but maybe the owners of Classic parts understand this better,i`ll ask them. Maybe this could be a product to considder produced as the need for it probably is there? Covering the box is important for people whom are using there trucks in transporting things and stuff. Sinc.Martinius Berg
If you want to carry stuff in your truck make a box for the back out of 3/4" plywood. This is cheap & easy for our AD boxes. I had to settle for a rubber mat for my 78 fleetside. A mold this big would cost millions of dollars.
My Shop Truck I just work the truck gently , I don't throw cylinder heads etc. at it , I place them in the bed . Yes , the inside paint has scratches and so on but it's either a truck or a toy , make up your mind and use it apropriately .
SEM has a really nice color match bed liner syste,. I am discussing them using the 53 as a tech demo for local body shops. I'll let you guys know the outcome.
