I took my rear brakes apart today and came across this bar that sits over the axle and separates the two brake shoes. What I need is the spring that you see in the pictures because one of them was broke. Any help would be greatly appreciated!! http://s677.photobucket.com/albums/vv140/1964c10/?action=view¤t=untitled2.jpg I have checked: Classic Parts LMC Brothers Jim Carter Orange Truck
I don't know what the spring is supposed to do, but it sure helped keep that bar in place while I put my brakes back toghether.
Thanks 58fleetside! I checked through my hardware kit but I could not find it. Mine is a 64 fleetside long bed. What is yours? maybe that makes a difference.
I just found in my shop manual the bar is called the parking brake actuating rod and anti-rattle spring. Here is a picture of the complete setup. http://i677.photobucket.com/albums/vv140/1964c10/untitled3.jpg Any help? please
Mine is a 58 long bed fleetside. I looked through my parts bins and did not find a spare of that spring.
I really appreciate you doing that!! I went back through both the 61 shop manual and my supplement for 64, interesting thing is that mine appears to be more like the 64 but with the added bar from the 61, I am wondering if someone put it in after the fact not knowing, because according to the manual the 64 no longer has that bar.
Well I was actually able to find the spring here new! They even have the bar if anyone ever needs it. americanclassictruckparts.com Thanks again for the help
Bought mine at the local parts store they didnt change that part for years i told them to look it up for a 70 pickup and is was right.
