Nate, I read your note about dropping a magnet down my banjo on the tranny. But, I've never heard the term used, what/where is it?

I have it stuck to my 5 string and it ain't improved my playin' atall!

Also, It seems I read a thread of yours somewhere about the modification to the drivers side fender brace if you are putting in a dual carb set-up. I was looking at it and I think it will be an issue. Any advice so I can get a nice neat job the first time?

    Greeting's from the hollar!

    This 'N That

The ' Banjo ' refers to the axle housing proper , there's sufficient clearance for you to place a rare earth magnet in there to grab any ferrous wear particles , this makes it more likely to never have any future problems .

The driver's side fender brace is just a bit of threaded rod so you can bend it a bit or make up a new , longer one with a dog leg in it to clear the carby by 1/2" or so , doesn't need much .

I hope this helps , I bet Even has a nice picture of what I'm talking about .

I wish I had the time and $ to drive my '49 to Tenn. as I have a buddy who lives there and wants me to visit , so far I've never been to The Volunteer State .

Sitting right next to me is my prized all metal ' Dinner Pail ' (lunchbox) made by Aladdin Industries in Nashville Tennessee many years ago and found in the general store back in a Holler by another old trucker on this very list , I'll have it until I die then my son will carry it .

When you make it to tennesseum, come on over so we can take a ride and play with the flamethrowers.

Thanks for the advice. My Saginaw with the tailpiece conversion to fit the torque tube ate up my speedo gear and there isn't a bottom drain plug I can see on it. I'm about to try another but I'm afraid the tailpiece machining is off, so it will probably get eaten again.

Here in Tennessee we love visitors, bring yer' lunch pail we'll pack it full with good ol' southern fried chicken. I'll send you from here over mountains on the ol' moonshiners road to Asheville. From there its about 2 hours to Ol' Chebby in Charlotte. The trip over the hills is like going back to the 40's.

Plenty of barn finds along the way, or parked in the woods out back.

    fender brace

    flashlight,

I did the dual carb set up not to long ago and modified the fender brace as some the pictures in the this forum indicated. Some one has some good pictures on what to do and it was easy even for me. Do a search on it and you'll find it.

    Dave,
Could you post the links to the pictures of the modified brace?
I have spent hours searching and can not find them.
    Thanks,
    Charles

    flashlight,
search dual carbs and look up my name then look up a thread from fla54chey3100, he attached a web site to one of my threads of his dual carb set up and go into his page 7 on his engine site and you will see a couple of pictures of what he did. I did the same. I also think you can find his picture site if you google 235 engine. I got a lot of info from both him and naturally Nate. the pictures are worth a thousand words. As Nate says it is simple. Dave
