Hey guys! I'm new to the forum and you guys seem pretty knowledgeable. I've got a 64 c-10 shorty step. Though I've often contemplated giving in to the craze and changing to short fleet.
Anyway, I have got a perplexing question.
Has anyone ever used the V-8 motor mount brackets from 67-72 to move the engine forward? I put a 350 in my 64 using the I-6 brackets and flipped the mounts. But as you all know the motor sits way back in causing my distributor to practically kiss the firewall.
It looks to me that the frame and crossmember have the proper holes to use the next generation brakets moving the engine maybe 3 inches forward. My dad has a 69 and the mount brackets look like they'd fit. I'd like to move my motor forward to get the fan closer to the radiator. The only downfall I can forsee is that I'd have to modify the exhaust and perhaps having the engine farther back actually helps weight ratio and handling?
So far I haven't found anyone who has tried this, to my surprise.
