    Hi everyone,
I have a quick question regarding the glass used in the 50's body styles.

I own a 54 - but I'd like to remove the vent window in place for a one piece glass that fills the entire window opening. I was told the 47 -50's trucks use a one piece glass.

Would I also need to order a new glass track used in the in the 1950 model?
Is there anything else I would need to order besides the glass track and the new glass?

    Feedback greatly appreciated!

would rather not have to replace the entire door if all I need is the glass and channel... I just dont know if its that simple, or if there are other parts that need to be swapped out..

Here's a few things you'll need to convert to wingless windows.

    1. New glass (of course).
    2. The metal that encases the window.
    3. New window regulators.
    4. New inner window garnish mouldings.
    5. New door glass channels.
    6. New beaded window seals.

All of the above are the same for the 47-50, none of the above are interchangable with the 51-54.

I've never taken the time to look at the inside of my 50 doors vs the inside of my 51 parts trucks to see if the window regulators are a direct bolt-in replacement, but knowing Chevrolet, my money would be on the fact that the tooling is different enough that it would require some engineering to hang pre 51 regulators on post 50 doors.

    Hope this helps.

Hagan used to offer a vent window eliminator kit and also a place in Ft Worth. It is not a direct swap out situation and will require welding which of course means re-painting. We have used the early window regulator but much prefer an electric conversion that eliminates any rocking/binding as the factory set up was prone to do. Here are a couple shots of a 37 car door that the vent set up was much like the AD pickup. Look across the car in the first picture and you can see the cut out where the divider post was and the second shows that area filled in. Both the inside and outside panels (or trim) where the felt fits must be straight and parrallel.

    Inner window garnish mouldings

There's a difference between the pre-vent window and vent window garnish mouldings. It's easier to convert a non vent window moulding to a vent window moulding than it is the other way.

This is a picture of the moulding from a '51.
