Father's Day at Boy Scout Camp

My 14 year old son and I schemed up a trip to summer camp in my 54 today about 80 miles each way. he's always wanted his firends in the Troop to see the 54. They did.

Camp Edgewood, just outside DeQuincy, LA was founded as a Scout Camp in 1954, just like my truck.

It was hot, but we had a great trip to camp.

    Happy Father's Day everyone.

    Jim

My daughter invited me to the Juneteenth Celebration down at Miller Outdoor Theater Friday night. Even though it was typical Houston hot and muggy, there was a breeze up on the hill where we sat. Great turnout and really great music. Started off with local blues singer Diunna Greenleaf and her band "Blue Mercy". Local legends I.J. Gosey and Earl Gilliam joined in their last two songs. Then Keith Frank and the Soileau Zydeco Band, an incredibly hot band, hit the stage and finally the headliner Trombone Shorty and Orleans Avenue did a set that went on for an hour and a half.

Andrea and I had a great time.

    Hey Ken: Did it arrive?

    Thanks, Big Brother!

I (unfortunately) remember my dad teaching me to drive~ and he WASN'T all smiles! Of course that was me trying to learn how to drive a three on the tree in my 1950 Chevy three window pickup!
(No window for error~ unfortunately, I needed a window the size of a store front!) Got 'er done, though!;)
What I enjoyed most from that video is how closely that ties with me and my daughter's relationship. I see her sometimes, and I wonder what in the world I did to ever be SO blessed.
    God is great!

BTW, Good on you, Thunder! Setting there in your dark green... you gave those sprouts a _great_ backdrop!

I can't wait 'till the red, yellow, and white of mine is surrounded by Chiefs fans!:D

    Room For Error

    ?? why not ?

I gave my 5 YO son his first driving lesson in my old '46 3100 , he sat on my lap and had fun trying to steer it as we rolled along in 1st. gear....

I prolly set the hook for him for life right then , he's a racer now who doesn't dig my old & slow things but he's a good driver .

Point is , I wasn't worried about him damaging the old truck , not really possible other than grinding the non synchromest 1st gear .
