I have a really loose left front brake caliper on my '87 that is rattling really loud driving on any kind of rough surface. It looks like the bolt/pin holes in the caliper are wallered out. i'm guessing i need to replace my calipers since you do both sides if you do one.
i saw a part at online called an anti rattle spring - looks like a clip - but i don't think i have them on my truck. Am i supposed to? Where does it go?
Has anybody else had this issue?
Is it just high mileage? or is something wrong to make it wear?
The right side is just starting.

    Happy Father's Day everyone.

the sleeve for the caliper bolt has a o-ring between it and the caliper, replace them.

As said if the o-ring is gone or bad that could be it but if the bolt hole in the caliper wore out you will need new one or both. You can buy new bolts and o-ring Hard ware kit if the bolt is wore out as long as the treads on the caliper are ok & the piston work ok.

Oh the anti rattle spring or ( anti rattle clip) comes with the new pads or hard ware kit. One goes on the front center of the inner pad + Brake past on the back side of the pad. It ex-sorbs’ the vibration helps them not squeal

    Thanks

    Thanks a lot.
I'll look for the o ring - didn't know about that.
i had to replace one of the bolt/pins awhile back - it broke driving.
i've had these brakes apart a few times over the years but never noticed an o ring. the piston is working fine. thanks again.
