    66 chevy c10, new 250 6cyl. I am kind of a newbie and:confused: have a few questions.
    1. engine starts and idles smooth, ran great for about 150 miles, now still starts and idles fine but when i shift to 2nd and 3rd gear it seems to lack power and has a miss.

    2. idle speed seems to be a little high, i can idle it down by turning the distributer but then it wont start till i turn it back.

    3. i think i just have my points and timing a little off somewhere???

It might not be advancing. I don't know if you have mechanical or vaccum. If it is idling too high you have to much timing in it and need to back it off a little and then adjust the idle screw to keep it running.

its a vac advance and seems to be working. I think that one problem may be that i set the timing at the distrb. with the vac advance connected. I have a dwell meter ordered should be here today. i will unhook the vac advance line and start over setting the points with the dwell meter, hopefully that will solve all issues.
