What steering column from a later model will fit without major mods work in my 64 3/4 ton as I would like to have a locking column and four way flashers, Thanks
My '65 C-20 has a flasher unit mounted on the dash (actually to the left of the dash). I think it was an factory/dealer option because I've seen the same in another truck. As for steering columns, I don't think any will mount up without modifications. Major is subjective. Brotherss sell rebuilt 67-72 tilt columns or you could go with an ididit or other aftermarket column which are universal but still will require modifications to fit.
Look for mid-70s truck and van columns. They will go in with a minimal effort and very little fabrication, (if any at all) needed. The 4-way flasher wire from the column is connected to one pole of a additional signal relay and on the other pole to a wire running to the fuse panel hot lead. I installed a early 70s truck column in my 64 during a power steering conversion. I chose to keep the ignition on the dash panel. Nothing needed to be fabricated and I connected the 4-way flasher as described above. The column took a half hour to install with the mating of the column wiring harness to the old harness taking about 4 hours. (color code differences can make you nuts)

Butch60stp Back in 82 I saw one from a 73 model Monte Carlo installed in a 62 Chevy truck. The guy said he had to have the original truck column shaft shortened a little and resplined. He either modified the column support from the Monte Carlo or he fabricated one its been so long ago I don't remember that part. But the column did come out of a 73 Monte Carlo, and it had the added benifit of being a little shorter which put the steering wheel a little further away from him (more room).
