Well, i had parked my truck on my uncles land for the time being, and the weeds all decided to grow, knowing my luckk, the frame WAS in good shape, no its starting to go. So i decided to take off the box and grind the rust all off and paint the frame... now the problem... I have 8 bolts holding the box to the frame, there is only for i can get to, the other 4 are covered by parts of the frame. So what im asking is, has anyone been up this creek? What would you suggest??:D

    thanks

Are you saying the are rusted will not come off . Is it the 4 near the rear should be in side the frame you will have to get under really look .You should see them but they will be tight. if you can get them loose cut them off get new bolts. I had to cut two out of the 4 one I took off a few years ago.

I had went and just ground off the heads from the top and pounded them out with a screwdriver and hammer. I ground into the box a little bit, but its all right because i had plans of getting a different box. Just out of curiosity, has anyone ever attempted a box swap. Using a 1990s body style box on an 80s? i have the 1500 86 short box, and i was going to find a donor 90s step side box, ever been attempted??

I know a member on CK5.com did, but couldn't find any info on what was involved in putting it on. Here's a link to his build thread.
