just ordered a in line fuel filter for 1947-66 trucks from our host.. have another carter yf carb comming, and new carb insulator. going to install new steel tubing from fuel pump to carb, inline filter, and new carb. hopefully i can get this truck to run with out the carb not boiling over, or leaking Anyone have any photos or anything that show the typical location of inline filter and tubing routing? i am thinking keep the filter on opposite side of engine as carb to avoid heat of manifold. keep having trouble getting carbs to work and not leak or boil over.. been through a few rochestor b's, and this will be my second carter yf. I thought the problem was the carbs now wondering if it is some kind of heat problem. My son just told me he wants the truck in his wedding, couple weeks away.. now i have to get it to work.. and now.. lol been messing with these carb problems seems like for ever. any advise?
carb heat Check you heat riser to make sure it is working. its right below the carb, it has a coil spring one one side and a half round weight on the other. If its stuck closed it will do what you describe. the fuel filter is normally attach to the carb.
yep the heat riser seems to be fine.. swings free.. spring not broken.. suppose i could wire it in the open position.. and see if that fixes the problem.
Deves AD Page Yeah , he's a good guy . He has other useful DIY " How - To's " in there to , give it a look . Lastly , please to note that high dollar restoration's Rochester 'B' series carby STILL dribbles just like the one on your truck does , this is NORMAL people , get used to it .
