In my V8 powered 48 PU, the mech. fan in low on the radiator. I have a new radiator and a new uncut fan shroud. A 17 in mech. fan is 1 inch below th shroud. Which is better cooling: A, 16 inch electric fan high on the radiator or B, mechanical fan low on the radiator? thanks

Just read article in Street Rodder (Oct. page 182) claiming high is best because it is the hottet part of radiator.

You should have your fan centered in the radiator. That is the most efficient set-up.

    Zoom,
I have found that two fans are better than one. I have two electric fans (12") mounted on each side of the radiator. They are each ran from a seperate switch in the cab. I usually run around 160 with one fan, but when I take it to the strip, I run both, need it or not. Good luck!

PS: the fan in the front pulls, and the one on the inside pushes.
