Hi Guys, need some information/advice on either rebuilding or replacing a Saginaw 3-speed in my 83. I have noisy Input and counter shaft bearings and a seal leak. It needs to be freshened up for sure. I went to a repital Transmission shop here in Charlotte, $600 for the rebuild. Does this sound like a fair price, knowing the rebuild kit is around $150?

My second question is: could I rebuild this transmission
myself? Is it complicated or not? There seems to be plenty of documentation out there, but of course I do not have any of the special tools. I'm scared if I buy another transmission used, the same issues will be there.

Has anybody been through this? Any ideas or suggestions are very welcome!

    thanks/Scott
