Hello, because my truck shouldn't be complete in small parts, so I have some questions to the springs: - How long is the spring that returns the clutch pedal. How strong is the spring wire and how large is the diameter? What kind of form? Is there one necessary? - Lengh, wire size, diameter and form of the spring that returns the brake pedal, is this one necessary? - And at least which form, lengh, wire size and size of the diameter have the spring that pulls back the parking brake pedal? If some one has photos that will help enormously. Here photos from my truck without any springs. If you look on the firewall you see a hole with two smaller holes on the top and below. Was there, a switch for the headlights that switches from driving light to undipped headlights? The photo with the arrow, what is this part for? Wolfgang
This 'N That O.K. , the headlight dipper switch fits right in that hole and is either an Echlin # DS101 or # DS102 , the DS102 fits Chevrolets from 1949 ~ 1954 . The brake and clutch pedals _both_ need return springs and hooks to hold them , connect one end to the clevis pin on the pedal arm , the other end to a hook that goes back to the support you're pointing at . The coils of each spring are pretty large , about 1-1/2" around the the length is about 6" , they're not terribly strong springs so maybe a screen door spring will work , as long as they'll retun the pedal to the toe board with a thump if you slide your foot off the pedal sideways , that's good enough . I forget the park brake pedal spring , it's illustrated in an older post though , go take a few hourse looking and you'll find it . I hope this helps .
By The Way This is exactly why we keep telling you to buy a shop manual and the 1954 truck assembly book ~ all this and way more is shown clearly in the pictures.... ALL the parts vendors sell these books very cheaply in reporoduction , get the operator's handbook for your year too .
Truck shop manual and factury assembly manual Hello Nate, I have both books the truck shop manual is for the models from '48-'51 and the factory assembly is from '47-'54. My problem is if I order parts like springs or other small parts I mean that they doesn't fit to my truck. Some parts are different and I didn't have a orginal object here in my local area where I can look. So I have to buy at a tractor dealer or... Thanks for you help Wolfgang

Wolfgang, you inquired what the part was that you had drawn an "arrow" to. The "stub" is where you would connect your gearshift linkage if you have a 3 speed transmission with a column shifter.
