I'm swapping out an engine on my 1969 c20 and the "fuelly heads" don't have a place to mount my alternator. The new motor apparently mounts at the exhaust manifold but I don't know where to find the mounting hardware. I'm told there is a bracket for the "rams horn style exhaust" but I don't know the year or language to describe to people when I ask for the parts. What year or model, make etc. should I say I have to be able to get the right bracket. I'd appreciate whatever help you can give. Thanks Jerry:7
I am using alan grove components brackets on my small block, which i am installing in a '59 1/2 ton. The A/C and alternator brackets bolt to the water pump, and intake manifold. The power steering pump bolts to the front mount holes and the water pump. They have versions to work with short water pumps and long water pumps, small blocks and big blocks. I don't remember the web address but there phone number is (913) 837-4368. Hope that helps.
RE: alternator mounting Yes, Alan Grove makes very nice bracket for that 1-913-837-4368 I would say 90% of the Streetrods out there are running his brackets.
on rams horn exhaust-there is a flat on the exhaust that an alternator bracket or generator bracket fits onto. These are easy to find in salvage yards-as they used basically the same mount from 1955-1969 at least.Try looking at chevy impalas of mid 60's,I am using a stock set of brackets on my 1959 apache that I got from one.lee
