Good day gentlemen, I'm a new user, and the proud new owner of a 52 MD five-window cab. My question is about the mirror placement. The side view mirrors are placed differently on the truck. Is this a factory placement for driver parrallax? or perhaps it was from the shop that refurbished the truck? I have been reading this site for years, but this is my first post, since I have just now acquired my dream truck. Judging from what I've read, you guys will know the answer. Thanks.
Be sure to open the hood when putting on the mirrors. The gooseneck one is for the passenger side. I did not open the hood and got my passenger side mirror to close to the hood and it bumps when opening the hood wide. Hopefully someone will post a templet you can cutout and tape to your cowl. Filling hole and repainting are a steep price to pay for not opening the hood. I would rather look dumb than let you take a chance.
Check this out Click this link https://talk.classicparts.com/showthread.php?t=9450&highlight=mirror Now go to post number 8. You will see a picture that Ken's 50 posted of the interior of his cab. Inside the glovebox opening, you will see two holes in a reinforcement. That is the spot for the factory mirror bracket placement. There is a similiar spot on the driver's side as well. Hope this helps. Andy
Mirror placement Thanks for the warm welcomes and the replies. I'll take it all on board. I'll send pics when able!
Yikes! Willard is right...be careful with the radio antenna placement as well. Don't ask me how I know. Flashlight
Oh Damn!!! Now I have to take that glove box liner out again???? That flimsy cardboard can't take much more of this. It is one thing to install and reinstall something 3X, but when the part falls apart... Greg
WELCOME Gunship ! So , is this the new FBI war wagon then ? I hope you can resist junking the old InLine 6 Banger engine ,it's slow yes but ever so much more reliable than any 'V' engine ever made , yes this includes the Apperson 8 . Ask away ! the guys here know more about the care , feeding and (most importantly) the use of these fine old trucks so no question is ' stupid ' unless you don't ask it . I'd be lost without the help I get here in keeping my old '49 shoptruck on the road , working like it was designed and built to do , 60 YEARS AGO !
