All this talk about'' Problem with wood in bed'' i thought it would be appropreate to mention my well hung trailer hitch. I finnaly fabricated my trailer hitch to pull my canned ham on my Truck Its built so i can bolt or unbolt it from the back of the frame. I didnt want to weld it on the frame.

My, My. You were not kidding.

    Nice job.
As you can see, I have same dream. Nice trailer, too. Is that a 12' shell?
I might have posted on here before if anyone knew what the towing capacity of these original 1/2 ton pickups were capable of, as well as the tongue weight. I had a '63 Airstream Safari (16') but had to sell it for $$$. It was too big for my needs, but I do hope to have a much smaller one and light weight someday, but I would like to understand what the capacity would be for these trucks. Do you have any such reference information?
Thanks and Keep up the good work!

    That should do her!

Gypsy, that should work just fine! I had a 1/4 inch thick tongue welded to my truck. What you have looks like you could pull Missouri into Oklahoma! That ain't going NO where!
    GO CAMPING!!!!

Really nice job, and neat trailer too. My only question is, why do you keep it in a tree?. Jesse

Jessie I hung it in the tree so it would be easy to paint

:D these topic headings are going to cause me grief.... :p

Nice hitch there , I generally prefer welded hitches , the one on my '49 is bolted too and two bolts were gone missing when I bought it

I once had a little trailer just like that one , don't recall the brand .

I am sure everyone here knows the unvioble rule of bolted trailer hitches :

Check the tightness of all fasteners EVERY DAY !! I once skipped a day on a flat tow road trip and discovered loose bolts in Mo. , many miles from home

    Coulda been a disaster .
