After so many V8 swaps, Camaro clips, Mustang II ifs, S10 frame swaps, along with cab corners, floor pans, and cowl sections the work sometimes seems to be a little routine. Now along comes this: a chassis from under a 2001 U-D ( made by Nissan I think) roll back wrecker that my friend wants put under his 37 chevy 2 ton truck sheet metal to haul his 37 business coupe on and do away with dragging a trailer. The best part is NOTHING will fit so everything will have to be designed and fabricated. The gods have smiled on me and I can hardly wait to get started. Roll backs don't appear so but they are L-O-N-G, like a wheel base that is ten FEET longer than a 37 chevy 2 ton. A couple of shots of the 37 even with one end of the U-D frame and the other end sticking out.

Work is work, hobby is hobby!

I don't know where to start with this thread! Many of us would give our right nut to have done what you've done over the years! Your workmanship is awesome! You think it's mandane, some kind of labor (maybe of toil, maybe of love)! I hang on your every word! Don't lose sight of the fact that you're a hero in my mind, not to mention, probably 99% of the rest of us on this forum! The difference is, that you've done it for a living, land I've done it as a hobby!

I'm glad that you're excited about your new project, but don't forget your "raisin"! Keep teaching us about the old stuff, the early mods, the new tech solutions!

P.S. You owe us pics of the '37 coupe!:D:cool:

Don't worry Ken, I still love to see the regular stuff come out real sanitary and I do remember that what is old hat to me is an exciting first time experience for my customers. Wouldn't trade this life for any I can think of and if I won the lottery I'd be back in the shop the next day. My wife says I am getting a tiny bit more multi-dimensional in my later years since we have taken a vacation just five years apart instead of the former fifteen. Naturally we went to auto related destinations since I don't want to spoil her.

This is gonna be a cool conversion. There is, or was a wrecking co. in phoenix that did the same thing. I saw this truck a few times on the road and then finally got to see it up close at the Goodguys car show in Scottsdale. This guy bought a brand new IH diesel cab and chassie to do the conversion. He used some of the IH dash, tilt steering wheel and the seats. I wished I had some pics of it he did a great job on it. It was red with black fenders, aluminum bed. Looking forward to some pics of the progress Evan, Its gonna be a great project. Chris

    PRICELESS yet AFFORDABLE

Ken - WELL said! I would give anything to have 1% of Evan's experience and knowledge just so I can finish my one dream truck. Evan - I am so happy you have a new project that will push and challenge you. Something tells me that even you will learn a thing or two on this project. And you will share it with us. Thank you for that and even though that kind of sharing and learning is PRICELESS, this site makes it AFFORDABLE!

    I can't wait~

OK~ I can "envision" things fairly well, but I'm having a hard time with this one. The length of the frame with the size of the cab seems out of proportion.

Oh, wait. It's in Evan's hands! Enough said!

So, Evan~ will this be a bagged deal where it will sit w-a-y d-o-w-n l-o-w when it's finished?

What's the time frame, because I can't wait to see the end result!

    More pictures, please!:D
