I saw on the news that this week GM celebrates it's 100th year old birthday. Congratulations GM and THANK YOU for designing, creating, and building my truck. It may be 56 years old, but I love it. Thanks again & Happy Birthday.
Who made GM? A couple of years ago I was in one of the shops in Hay (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hay_on_wye) and saw the Alfred P Sloan book 'My Years With General Motors'. If ever you see one pick it up, or even get down to your library and ask them for a copy, it is a fantastic read. It's a mix of how they designed and build (or didn't) the GM vehicles and what it takes to run a giant organisation like GM - from the days when there were no computers, communication was either phone or mail, the finance department was simply keeping records, they had no idea how to relate supply & demand and had no concept of customer feedback. You get to see how close it was to not making 20 years let alone 100. My first car was a Holden, my wife drives a Vauxhall, the 55 is still going after all these years and we have the Saab, so indeed happy birthday GM.
Sweet ! Tasty too I love 'Generous Motors' , that wonderful company of yore who told us what we wanted , then built it well and sold it cheaply with great parts support... GMAC financing too ! Then Roger came along and screwed it all up . *sigh* At least my old 1949 cheap work truck is still out there chugging along just fine and dandy , 60 years of continuous Commercial Service ain't bad . Never restored either . Not surprising as it's a CHEVROLET
Let them eat cake! Great looking cake! With the whitewalls, it looks an awful lot like our master's truck! (That would be Nate's truck!) The only thing you forgot was the load of lumber or truck parts in the bed...
