    Hey Gentlemen...

anyone out there ever installed air bags on the rear of a '60-'62?? I'm really considering it and was wondering about fabricating brackets and stuff. I'm probably going to leave my drop spindles and torsion bars alone..

    thanx,

I'm not sure you can do it with the torsion bars. I was planning on bagging my 60 and wanted disc brakes and power steering. I have already swapped out the front end with a 75. The only problem I see so far is the frame on the 60 is shorter than the 75 and the motor mounts sit above the frame and I am going to have build up the frame. This is a work in progress and I am adapting as I go. Let me know how your project goes.

Not going to modify the front end, just want bags on the rear..plan on keeping the torsion bar set up and already have power steering/power disc brakes that work really well..I hear the air bags on the rear will give me a somewhat smoother ride..I hope so!

I have bags all around on the 37 and LOVE them !! When you install the air lines, make sure the cuts are clean and SQUARE !! Keeps those pesky leaks from happening...

Looking at power disc front set up for a 62 c-10 on a budget there is something about the lack of springs that seems to make this difficult or is it me making this harder than it needs to be so if any one has been here before or just might have the parts list for the junk yard let me know also would like to know what 5 lug rear bolts up on the frame bolt on being the key word collected parts most of the summer 4 235 1 piece of an 61 apache 2 hoods 4 doors 3 grills. The fore mentioned disc arrangement & a 700/r trans are the few parts I lack and yes I will be serving leftovers at the end just ask I am in Ga.:)

I think it was well worth it to spend a little on aftermarket drop spindles that used all the original ball joints, tie rod ends, ect...from there i used the power steering bracket courtesy of our gracious sponsor along with power steering pump, hoses, and unit from a mid 70's model half ton ( it helps if these all come from the same vehicle)..My rear is from a 65 w/ 3.07 gears that was modified to fit my '60. I had the brackets moved out a few inches to fit the trailing arms on my 1960. The original 60-62 (i think) rear axles will all interchange but the 63 and newer will not bolt right up to my 1960 Apache..hope this all helps in some way...:D
