vacuum wiper hoses

    I'm finishing up details on a '59 Apache 3100 restoration and I'm not sure where the return wiper vacuum hose goes. Wipers are working and I've seen pictures of the hose coming through the firewall near the battery but not sure if it connects or just hangs down for "exhaust". Any advise is welcome.

    Just one hose to the wiper motor, the other tube is just left open under the dash.
