I have always wanted a classic truck, and now I am the new owner of a 64 C10 Custom. It has some customizations, I'm pretty sure the engine is not stock, and someone has put a sunroof and a sliding rear window in it, but the body is in pretty good shape and almost rust free. I have already posted some challenges I am having with my truck (ie engine identification), but that's all part of the fun! I'm sure I will have several more. Thanks for all the help so far! Here are some pics:
i think i actually like the sliding back glass, looks a lil different and might take a lil gettin used to it but its not to bad
Yeah, I like the sliding glass, you get pretty good airflow between the kick panel vents and the rear window while moving.
Your truck looks in pretty good shape! The other mods will be fine, focus on upgrading the brakes, especially with that mill under the hood. Welcome to the forum
Yeah, the brakes need some work. Those big wheels don't make it any easier to stop with 4 drum brakes.
You too!! Looks like we are both new old truck owners. I like the primer look on yours ... really. There is something I have always found appealing about the 'rat' crowd who do the coolest Rod mods and often leave the paint or do something very alternative and 'scruffy' looking compared to the perfect paint crowd. Look forward to seeing how your 64 comes along.
Yeah, this is all new to me too, but it has been fun learning as I go. I plan on posting pics all along as I slowly make progress. My wife doesn't care for the primer look, but I always tell her that I could make this truck look real nice, but then someone may steal it
Congrats on your excellent taste !! A word of advice to both new oweners in this thread. Three words. Factory Service Manual !! Pick one up from our hosts here. It will save you lots of grief trying to figure things out for yourself. As in " How does this %$#@* headlight switch come out ? " DVal
LOL Yeah I was asking that very question last Saturday. Still haven't figured it out yet, but the manual is on the way.
Tiny button on the switch. Push and hold then pull the knob. I found it in my manual. It is a life saver.
Yeah, thanks for saving me $20.00..jk Seriously though I pulled on that headlight switch for 15 mins. last Saturday.
Adjusting out the drums front and rear will leave you very suprized on how well they work. I did a panic stop the other day. Brakes good check...Tires Bad. The brakes worked well enough to lock up all 4 wheels.
I am pretty happy with my brakes now. When I first got my truck the pedal would go all the way to the floor, and it would just slow down and never really stop. I replaced the master cyl, replaced all 4 wheel cylinders, put new drums and shoes for the front, and bled everything. Everything's good now, but I would still like to upgrade to the dual master cyl one day.
