rearend swap

    i have a 48 chevrolet and want to put in a disc brake rearend. does anyone know of a rear that will bolt up.

    The rear ends I have done none have bolted right in. I have had to make perches and weld the on, and you will have do change the tranny yo an open drive line.

    I origionally ran a Ferd 8.8 from a 90 town car. It has disc brakes and fills the fenders nicely with factory steelies. You must cut off the factory brackets, then set up saddle brackets on your springs, center the rearend, set pinion angle, then weld them on and bolt it down.

    Now I have the T bird IRS and it is great. Mine is all custom installed, and sits MUCH lower than the team 321 setup, it just depends on how low you want to go.

    The Pinion Angle

    Should be about 3 degrees and is *very* important ! . it keeps the driveshaft in proper alignment so it doesn't chew up U-Joints regularly .
