Would like to install seatbelts in my "54" 5 window would like to put in retractable 3 point if possible but with the side windows I am not sure if there is enough room but at the very least lap belts. Any and all sugestions welcome for those that have done it and the best place to obtain the belts.

The main thig is to attach them to the floor of the cab , NOT the frame ! .

Use oversize flat washers to gusset them for additional safety and DO NOT use one bolt for two ends !

Look UNDERNEATH the floor and measure THRICE before drilling ! .

Lap belts are fine , be aware that these old trucks , like ALL oldies are DEATH TRAPS .

Just remember that and you'll do fine .

I run a piece of 1/4" flat bar between the holes, so there is no chance of pulling through.

I installed Juliano's in my 5 window. Great easy to follow instructions and set up. Make sure they include the longer lap belts in the order if you are keeping the original (higher) seat.

Thanks for the great info. Larry on your 5 window did you use the long bracket inside the post between the door and side window I have not read all the directions but I noticed a mention of some welding on the outside of the post. My interior is complete so I am thinking that long bracket should just be slide down inside the post and the bolt installed through it. Is that the way you installed the belts in your 5 window, if you have any pics could you post them up?
    Thanks
    Mike

    Welded

I followed the instructions to the letter, which called for welding a bracket into the top of the post. The headliner needs to be removed to access. There are great photos of each step of the process from Deve's site and Juliano's. That being said, if you are careful not to drop the backup plate down into the post pocket  I don't think the welding is that critical there, as the backup plate, after trimming to fit, wedges into place. It seems more critical at the bottom, where the retractor is attached and under the seat where the lap belt is secured. Most of those welds are hidden behind the retractor and the seat.

I weded the nut and washer to a strip of 20 ga. metal about 10" long. After drilling the mount hole between the door post and the corner glass I slid the nut down from the to and tightened the bolt. Then about 1" above the bolt I drilled a small hole through the inner cab and the piece of 1" metal that I had welded to the nut and put in a small sheet metal screw. Now you can remove the bolt and not lose the nut.Take a pair of snips and cut off excess metal strip at top.DONE. Hope this helps.
