I am installing a Vintage air GenII in my 65 c10. it has a 350 small block from a 72 monte carlo.I want to move the alt. to the drivers side. what year small blocks had the alt. on the drivers side? It has a long water pump if that matters. thanks,Raking
If it's worth the extra cost to you, Alan Grove makes a driver side mount setup for the small block/long pump. They fit perfect and are easy to adjust. http://www.alangrovecomponents.com/S.B.Long_Pump.htm I had mine powder coated ten years ago and this is what it looks like currently:
I bought a top mount from Alan grove but with the top mount ac bracket I got from them the belt runs right up against the front of the bracket. I just need about 1/8" to 3/16" clearance. in order to do this I have to oblong the two holes that bolt to the front two holes in intake. That doesn't leave a lot of metal around the hole. That is why I was looking at the stock brackets to see if the combo would work better.
There is 3 diffrent options for your setup at Summit. http://www.summitracing.com/search/...ounting-Position/Driver-side/?keyword=bracket
Bummer, sorry to hear they didn't fit. I actually installed Old Air Products A/C in my 1960 a number a years ago, and although the system sucked and I got rid of it, the Alan Grove brackets fit perfectly. I had the low profile version on mine, on a 350 with cast iron manifolds. In fact they're still hanging on the garage wall. If you have any interest I'll be glad to send them to you for the cost of the shipping.
Brackets I'm sorry to take so long getting back. I took a few days off and was away from the internet. can you tell me if the brackets attach to the heads, intake or exhaust manifolds. I am running Hooker Hedders so the exhaust is not an option. any idea as to the freight cost? thanks again.
Here’s what my brackets look like, along with the Alan Grove installation instructions. The spacers are long gone, but the brackets are there with most if not all the bolts. I had all the brackets powder coated about 10 years ago, and these only got used for about 1 year of use before I pulled the A/C. Per the instructions it appears these will work with headers or manifolds, hopefully the instructions will help with the decision if they’ll work in your application. It's been so long I don't remember where they attached. URL=http://img692.imageshack.us/i/dsc0004sp.jpg/][/URL] If my 5 pound guess on packaging weight is reasonably accurate - through the UPS calculator, the shipping cost would probably be less than $15.00 from 99216 to 37201. If you’re interested shoot me a PM and we can go from there. Regards, Mark.
