motor mounts

    [updated:LAST EDITED ON Jun-02-02 AT 00:26 AM (CST)]i've got a 1961 chevy truckand i pulled a 1963 283 and the frame on the 63 is about 5 1/2 inches tall, and the 61 is about 4 1/2. the motor mounts will not alow the engine to set down to where it should be. what motor mounts will work. Would it hurt my truck if i let the engine sit to hi. could i cut the mounts down and weld a plateform on the bottom to rest on the cross member? thatnks please replie soon as possible. cowboy

    Cowboy,

    What engine was in the 61' to begin with? What tranny are you going to use? If the engine was another SBC, then there should be no problems.
