RCF Have just purchased a 1963 SWB Chevy.I want to lower it. I don't want it "in the weeds" so to speak but I would lke a nice even ride height. It is going to be my daily driver. I was thinking 3" drop springs in the back and 2" drop spindles in the front. Any suggestions or comments? RCF
For a more even ride height go with a 4 inch drop rear spring. Check this out http://www.earlyclassic.com/stance1.html DV
RCF, you should be able to drop the rear 4 inches without a C-notch if you don't plan on carrying any really heavy loads. The C-notch is usually used in 88-up trucks with the flatter rear frame rails or for drops of six inches or more with spring flip kits.
You don't need to c-notch for a 4 inch rear drop. You WILL need an adjustable pan-hard bar. If lower than 4 inches? shock relocation and Early Classic Super Pan-hard bar will be needed to maintain drivability and proper suspension geometry. If you use drop springs a 4 inch drop should not effect the load capabilities of a 1/2 ton that much. You won't be able to throw a cab-over camper on it, but you should be able to handle a reasonable amount of weight in the bed.
dude, i got the same thing. i got a 63' and the ass end is too high. i want to lower it and make it level and perhaps get some better traction out of it. later, Lloyd
