About a year ago, I found a book on Amazon entitled something like "How to rebuild your 1963 Chevrolet Pickup" Like a dumb*** I didn't buy it, now I can't find it anywhere !! All I can find are the generic restoration books that have lots of cute pictures, but little useful info. Has anyone heard of this book? Know where to find it ?
The two necessary books to start with for a restoration are the Service Manual and the Factory Assembly Manual. From there, anything else you find are supplements. I have heard, but have never tried, you can order a Restoration Guide for your specific vehicle from GM. I think you supply the VIN and they send a packet of information on what was installed on the vehicle as it rolled down the assembly line. Dennis
Here is some more information on the Restoration Packet. I copied this from another forum so these are not my words, "Call 1-800-222-1020. This is GM. Tell them that you would like a Restoration Pack for your truck. They will ask your name and address, year and model. You will recieve (FREE OF CHARGE) a packet of original dated info about your truck. Codes, specs, tech.info., dimensions, options, Power curves and more. Learned about this on my Vette resto and provided much valuable information. Happy reading and happy truckin'" Dennis
