I did an oil change yesterday on my 1954 235 yesterday I was suprised to discover the oil filter cannister was empty and it did not look like oil had been circulating through the filter. Usually when I change the filter the filter element is dirty and has some oil in it and the cannister is 1/2 full of oil.

Any ideas on why this happened and how to fix it?
    Thanks for your help.

    Happy New Year to everyone!

My guess would be that the inlet hose is clogged and not letting oil get into the filter. Try inspecting the hose for obstructions, as well as the hole at the block and the hole at the inlet side of the filter.

    Thanks

    Thanks for your input.

Can anyone direct me to a diagram of where the hoses hook to the engine and to the oil filter cannister?

    Happy New Years
