I am waiting delivery of my rebuilt 1972 350 engine, (320 HP). I not a big horse power guy, just want to make it there and back. I will be the only one in the Home Depot lot with a 59! All front sheet metal has been removed, and engine and transmission has be pulled. Anyone have pointers, suggestion on installation the 350? The front end is stock and may consider front disk with power steering mod. Thanks I will be adding photo soon..
Steve, I've pretty much already given you the total depth of my knowledge and insight on getting a 350 in your 59 in the other threads, especially since I used a 5 speed TREMEC transmission in mine. I would like to hear how it goes for you though. Especially if you are going to move the engine forward a few inches. I'd like to know how far you move it, what troubles you had with engine mounts and crossmembers etc. Also if you are planning on using an HEI distributor, how far did you have to move the engine to get the distributor to clear the firewall? Others ought to have more info on this, but it seems that most of the really experienced people on this Task Force forum may have lost interest. Stan
Engine removed, will clean up engine bay soon. I was infromed that my engine should be delivered in three weeks, transimssion in two. I am using a electric fan which allows me to move the engine foward more. (I hope) received the motor mounts previously pictured in different post. They have a weleded brace under the mount area that provides additional support real sturdy, will see how they work. Headers arrived today, I ordered them form Jegs 36 hours ago, must been an air drop!
