Over the years I've really enjoyed meeting you alls and have learned much more than would be possible without this great forum .

I've also enjoyed the off list chatter and word of encouragement , parts sales
general gabfests and so on .

I know I often take a long time to reply to private messages but I do appreciate them one and all , belive that .

Here's hoping 2010 will be a turning point as the last couple years have been a b*tch for me , many others here as well .

I'm still hoping to be able to try riding my Moto again this year , we'll see how that gos , if and when my Dr. says I can try .

    I may have to sell my '49 3100 and get a slushbox equipped truck , we'll see about that , maybe a nice 1961 unibody F-100 ? :D
    :p

Or a '64 Ranchero with 6 Banger and C-4 tranny.....

Why not trade it in for a '54 with a Hydra-Matic?

I got an extra 350 turbo in the shop, come on over and we'll stick it in. Remember....friends don't let friends drive fords.

    Well here's the deal :

I'd (obviously) prefer a '64 El Camino with a 250 - 6 and 700R4 but those are too darn expensive and would prolly get stolen the first time I left it in the Pick-A-Part lot or in a Motel 6 2,000 miles from home so......

Heck , I'd maybe still be driving my old 1980 Dodge D-100 Shortbox special order if the damned crackhead hadn't totalled it out

It had everything but the style afforded by America's most popular trucks , that being CHEVROLET of course , I know there's some other brand a few mis-guided individuals seem to like , those ones seem to have pretty good engines but are well known as ' FUGLY ' ~ in fact , they're SO ugly that ~ oops ! I gotta run ! some PO'd crazy guy is chasing me , laughing maniacally

    Hear hear!

Gee~ for a minute there, I thought you were talking about us GMC owners...:D
Then I figured out it must be the F#%* people out there.:p

Even though you dare mention getting one of "those" F-bombs, I'm still very thankful you are on this page, Nate!;)
May your Moto times be safe AND fun!
Just stick an auto in that truck of yours and keep driving it! We won't mind.

    Dual Range Hydromatic Drive

You alls KNOW that's what I want as four speeds beats three (or shudder two) any day of the week but they're simply not out there except for a few high dollar rigs I couldn't possibly afford .

I'd prolly swap straight across for a TF so equipped right now , give up my beloved AD as I need to have a rig I can drive and use :(

Interesting , I drop the " F Bomb " and you alls freak out but when I say
" Dodge " no one even blinks .

    Hey Nate!

You da man! I doubt that any of us have taught you sh*t! All I can say is: Thanks for the advise, thanks for the validation, etc, etc, etc!

Here's hoping that you burn rubber on that 2 wheeled death trap in 2010 and that you never get rid of that beautimous '49 piece of Americana that you, Shirley, and a host of very lucky foster kids have enjoyed for years!

One parting shot? "La vida loca"

    "La vida loca"

I wonder if you have any idea......

As it turns out (oh crap ~ soap box alert) I'm a really hard headed dumbsh*t that God and a great number of really good people have worked assiduously to keep alive and moving forward , over the years I began to see the right path and have been striving to reach it ever since .

The lessons on humility , kindness , Karma and how to repair old machinery I have learned here are priceless and I could never repay if I live to be 150 years old .

Who knows ? maybe someday I'll learn to like GMC grillwork.... stranger things have allready happened to me :D

So, the reason you might(oh, the horror) sell the 49 is because you can't shift anymore????? Drop an auto in it and keep rolling. I may be upgrading to a 700r in the near future, I'll make you a great deal on a built 350t, then we can set up a national relay to get it there. Or, you could make me a deal on the 49 and I'll keep it on the road for you......

    Slushbox

    Yeah ;

    That's about it .

I'd not want a Turbo Hydro 350 because I need higher cruising speed and don't like winding my old tech , long stroke 235 up that tight .

Maybe a 700R4 or other overdrive (4 speed) Slushbox , thing is , I can't do the change for the same reason shifting is getting away from me....

Life sux sometimes but it still beats the alternative

Zig, show the man some respect and keep your "acquired taste" photos to your dimly lit back room activities!:p

Nate, are you saying that you can't get someone to do the heavy lifting to put a automatic in yourr truck????????? All you would need is a strong back and a weak mind?
Really? With help you could do it?
