Yes, the interior lights can be dimmed or even turned off by turning the lighting switch clockwise. That goes for the earlier models as well. My '50 is set up that way.
you can dim them by turning the knob, unless yours is likr mine, and you have turn the knob to the seet spot just to get interior lights.
