Hi everyone, new poster here. I have a 1964 chevy C-10 2wd pickup that my son and I are working on. I am wondering if someone can tell me what the original color of the engine was painted? It is the inline 6 cylinder. I would appreciate any help.
Welcome to the forum, youll find theres a bunch of great guys here. Im sure someone with the right answer will help you out, thats not my area of expertise.
That's my motor. It is a 250 in a 66. It is the original motor rebuilt. It is the closest color I could find to the original which I determined by scraping off the grease from the pan. The 250 just being offered in the trucks in the 66 year was a diferent color than the 230's leading up to it. I confirmed that thru a former GM engineer who was involved in the development of the 250. I have found Detroit Diesel green to be very close. http://olcurt1966.tripod.com/ol_curt_build/index.album/original-engine-color?i=9
thats awesome, i just googled it and that was the best pic i found, cool how it belonged to someone on here lol
Thanks everyone for the help. I look forward to posting lots more questions as we move thru this project. Should be getting the engine back from the machine shop Monday.
