A good friend that is also my driveshaft builder drug in a very sorry 1957 Cameo and asked if it could be saved. A lot of the usual rust but the vexing part was it had a 440 Chrysler that fit only by cutting the passenger side floor and toe board out. The exhaust manifold and pipe were inside the cab. The radio had been replaced by cutting it out of a Ford dash and welding that Ford section into the center of the Chevy dash. The inside shot shows the center of a Chevy dash has been welded back in and a new panel covers the former hole on the passengers side. The factory fiberglass bed sides took over 100 hours to restore. The spare tire well had been butchered and the center of the special Cameo rear bumper was gone. It is a factory V8/Automatic truck. The engine is now original right down to the tube between the carb and air cleaner and the brace from the side of the air cleaner to the intake. We did this several years ago but since more barn finds are now looking like this rather than being clean like from the past I thought the post might show that they can be saved.
Beautiful job Evan, but I wonder if your customer had more dollars than sense. Or maybe he had some great attachment to this particular truck?
Amazing Even, I'm not sure that meer mortals could have save that thing. Good thing you and your crew are a cut above. Stan
