    I have a 1962 235.
How can I tell, if it has or was converted to hydraulic lifters?
What are the differences between a car or truck 235?

    Thanks

A solid lifet is just as it says, a solid piece of metal. If you look at the top of the lifer (Pull out the pushrod and look down the hole with a flashlight) a hydraulic lifter will have 2 seperate pieces of metal, one will be held in on the inside of the lifter with a kind of round clip. Thats th way mine anyways. As far as I have heard, all of them had hydraulic in that year. The only differences between the truck and the car that i have found, is if you take off the plate on the side of the engine that the pushrods sit behind, on the car one there will be a copper oil tube running up the center. Hope that this helps you a little.
