I have a 65 long bed 3/4 ton. I was wondering if anyone knows the stock tire/rim size for this year/model. Thanks joe
The service manual for the 63 says, 8.17.5-6. (????) I never looked at that before. I don't have a decoder ring to translate that. ???
Hey Joe, I had to dig deep in the manual but finally got an answer. The numbers are odd by todays' standards. The tires are listed as 7-17.5-6pr, what that translates to is a 7.00 x 17.5 6ply tire. Anyway, here's the info and translation to the best of my ability.... FInd out what the GVW of your truck is (should be on ID plate on the drivers side kick panel. THe weight ratings in parenthesis are for the four wheel drive models. GVW FRONT TIRES REAR TIRES 5500 (5700) 7.00 x 17.5 6ply 7.00 x 17.5 6ply 6000 (6100) 7.00 x 17.5 6ply 8.00 x 17.5 6ply 6700 (7200) 7.00 x 17.5 6ply 8.00 x 17.5 8ply 7500 (7600) 8.00 x 19.5 6ply 8.00 x 19.5 8ply If you've got the 7500 (7600) rating then you also have RPO F60 Front Spring and RPO R50 rear springs. The above information is from Chevrolet's 1965 Truck Manual Supplement. However, the 1965 sales brochure says that the maximum tires size was the 8.00 x 19.5 8ply for both the front and rear. The sales brochure also has the rim size listed as 5.25 inches wide for both the 17.5 diameter and the 19.5 diameter rims. Hope this helps.
Thanks fellas, I was thinking about buying some 15" centerline hellcats. I was thinking about 15x10 rear w/ 295/50/15s and 15x7 front with 245/60/15s. Any idea if these rims/tires will rub. Thanks Joe.
