Is it possible to apply the door weatherstripping without removing the door? I really don't want to go through aligning the doors again. The Factory Ass Man seems to indicate it is done in sections, but it's really vague. I am also not sure how the metal retainer goes on the bottom of the door. Is the metal retainer on top leaving just a little of the rubber exposed on the bottom??? The only place I had rust on my whole truck was at the inside bottom of the doors. I think the weep holes plugged up with dirt. I had to weld in patch panels, so I don't have the old holes for reference. Greg
Greg I re did all the rubber on my doors a few years ago. It's been a while but I was able to do it with the doors on. I used 3m's yellow weatherstrip adhesive. The instructions on the adhesive tell you the proper way to apply it. It was actually very simple. As far as the lower retainer strip go's if you have a new one just line it up where it go's and pre drill the holes before you put the weatherstrip on. I'm not 100% positive if it go's on top of the rubber but I'm pretty sure. My truck is out in the shop and I'm sorry I cant run out and check for you. But maybe some one else can give you a definite answer on that part of it. Take your time and I'm sure you will have good results like I did.
Greg, The lower door strip goes on over the top edge of the rubber. The step of the metal strip goes down. If you want I can take some pictures later the post for you. Gary
To do it right, the doors need to be taken off. Just mark the current alignment and re install where they were.
