My '51 is almost completely assembled. I just have the headliner (second time), wiring the taillights, bleeding the brakes and then it's tank it and crank it. Boy, getting those bed bolts on the rear sill is tons of fun. Made me wish I had those small hands like the guy in the Burger King commercial. Here are some updated photos. Greg
Fantastic looking truck you have there Greg - great job. I know what you mean about the rear sill bed bolts...
I did almost everything myself. I had a Machine Shop re-plane the head, replace the valves and valve guides (for unleaded gas). I could not have done it without this forum, that's for sure. Looking back, I would have to say that everything was fun except for the glass. It was a pane... uh... pain in the a**!!! Greg
Nice job! Great looking truck there. You should try to redo a 47-48 bed without removing the underbed gas tank . . . that took some real patience and a swivel socket wrench that hadn't been out of the tool chest in years.
Wow!!! great job. This trucks looks nicer then it did out of the factory im sure! Lots of work. I may be asking you some advice for a do it yourself paint job... body work and all that good stuff that goes along with it. I have never done it before, but would like to give it a try.
Great Job Another Beaut!! Wishing I was where you are now, but I'm enjoying every minute!! Awesome.. Cody
Outstanding! I like the look of your truck~ It kind of makes me think of a military vehicle for some reason. As some have said, I can't wait until my truck is as far along as your truck! Get some gas in that thing and DRIVE it!
congratulations! I hope the two of you will be very happy AWESOME job! and thanks for bringing back the bad memories about the bed sill bolts!!! I think you have to hold your mouth just right to get it done.
I agree with the "hold your mouth just right" part. Hold your mouth just right to say "You son of b*tch" as the nut rolls down on the ground, or worse yet, inside the rear sill! "You POS, I'll screw you in yet"! Worse thing that you can say, as SWMBO comes out and asks how things are going? "Just F*cking peachy, can't you tell?" On the couch again? Whatever!
I love green trucks Great looking truck Greg. I suggest some trim rims on your wheels if you want to add a touch of bling. Someday maybe all the Texas ADs here can rally in the middle and get a group photo. Good job Greg. Now go drive it. And enjoy waving back at folks everywhere you go. Jim
Then again~~~ My truck is almost painted. I'll have to show you the beauty of a mostly white, with red and yellow truck.
Very nice indeed. I like those chrome/stainless details around the windows and down the hood - nice accents. Now, everywhere you drive it (or her or he), be prepared to show. Enjoy. Terry
