Ok I procured a NV-3500 tranny. Clutch, pressure plate and throw out bearing still intact. My 60 has the juice clutch with the 420 granny low. From what I have been told that slave cylinder will provide enough pressure to activate the Pressure plate. My 350 is mid 70's. It has three bolt holes on the front of the heads also a wedge and straight plug heads. I will find out more about the engine when I pull it in a few weeks. My valve guides are completely gone. Compression test yielded 130 psi on all 8. Smokes slightly at start up and really bad under load. Anyways back to the question. Will the factory 350 fly wheel mate up to the clutch and PP of the Nv-3500? The tranny came from behind a 4.3 v6.
Well the slight rebuild turned into a stroker 383 for the 60. *cough 400Hpcough* let's just say the drive train will changed out very soon! I dont think I have ever heard a transmission scream like a baby before.
I found a 65 aluminum T-10. Hopefully it will have the right offset. I really want to keep the juice clutch.
I've heard the super T10 will fit in these trucks, only issue is with shifter location as it was meant for car use and hits the bench seat (no problem with buckets). I also heard that a 2004 chevrolet short box driveshaft is a direct "perfect" swap for use behind a T10 (on a short box 60-66). Could be wrong but it was herd through the grapevine! Personally I would hold off for the 5 speed Richmond or Tremec, that's my next step. The NV3500 would work fine if you have a "light foot" but doesn't hold up to much abuse.
