I found this original 54 AD grille guard on the shelf in a box in an old closed down parts house last weekend.

It is exactly like the bumper guard I had on my original 54 way back when.

Before and after photos. please excuse "Homers Garage", I haven't gotten to much of my slack time house keeping since Hurricane Ike in 2008.

I know where everything is, but no one else can find anything in my garage unless they trip over it.

    Keep the new grille guard?

    Jim

    Not yet

That is the ultimate compliment on this site, but I just found the thing and I have been looking for a suitable grille guard for 10 years.

I stumbled onto this one, and I knew what it was made for when I saw it. The cross bar is bowed way out past the bumper to protect the "bullnose" in the 54 grille center.

I may yet find another, there were two other upright bracket pieces on the shelf, but no cross bar.

It will be another couple of months before I get invited back to that old parts house.

    Looks good, Jim

I'd say keep it, since you actually drive your truck off road.
BTW, good luck with your garage. Maybe that store has a round tuit?

It looks great, if you do not want to keep it, I would like to have it.

    Thanks for the photos

I did not find the brackets and made what I thought was correct. I see the bottom brackets in your photo that bolt back to the frame.

I have a little more work to do to stabilize the bumper guard per what you show me.

I was concerned that the guard may torque the bumper, these lower brackets will solve that.

    Thanks for the photos.
