Hello, here in Germany we have an institution that is for technical control on cars responsible. They say that a car needs turn signal lights which can be seen also from the side of the car. My question is where have your truck the front turn signals? And the second on is I've got from a friend two turn signals with an arrow. I think that will be aftermarket parts.(See on the photo) Are these parts orginal aftermarket parts for a Chevy? And have someone photos that show such lights on a truck? Ask Wolfgang
Those signals were often mounted on top of the fenders on our trucks. I don't like them, as they disrupt the flow of the lines, but back in the day, they were what was available. I converted my park lamps to marker/ turn signals by installing a dual filament bulb and socket. If you have to have side visible lights, I would round up some of those cool euro lights...like the fenders of new VWs, and mount them just aft of the fenderwell.
I thought you could get Antique License plates in Deutschland, which would not require modern day inspections. During the 40's and early 50's these trucks only came standard with one rear brake lamp, a dealer option was to put two rear tail-lights on them. There never were turn signals, the two front lamps were for parking/running lamps. I agree with Russ, they will really detract from the retro look of the body style. Still, those old lights you have are period correct, aftermarket items. I think Nate likes those???? But he's from LA.
The original dealer installed accessory turn signals for the AD trucks were the "Guide D-68" signals. These lights had domed glass lenses that are visible from the side of the truck. I installed these lights on my '49 2 ton parts hauler .
Your comments helped! Hello guys, your comments helped me very much. I went today to technical office and they accept the arrow turn signals as an accessoire if I install two additional classic signals on the front. Thanks Wolfgang
but do you really want those big bastards on the fenders??? Unless it is a farm truck, most people pull those off first.
I think they look funny Hello chebby, here in Germany those blinker are very rare. I think they look funny. But before I install them, I will make a photo show it a lot firends and we will discuss. If I don't forget, I show the photo for discussion too. Have a nice weekend Wolfgang
If you think they are to Ugly for your truck please just pack them up and send then to me, , I will be glad to have them.
