i have a 1962 chevy stepside. some kid ran into the front of my truck. i have replacament parts in perfect condition. but they are off a 1961.
id like to use them and was wondering, how would one go about hooking up the duel headlights on a 62 w/ single headlights? any help would be pricless! thanks lloyd.

The easiest way would be to pick up a new 1960-61 headlight harness from one of the aftermarket suppliers.

There is a bulkhead connector on the driver side of the radiator under the air deflector. It can be seen as the round connector, 3rd from the left in the photo above. Simply unplug the existing harness and plug in the new one. From the bulkhead connector back the wiring is the same whether the truck has two headlights or four.

If you're handy with wiring, it's relatively simple to add new feeds for the high beam bulbs, but you'd need two additional bulb receptacles. In a 4 lamp system the high beam bulbs are basically tapped off the high beam wire going to the dual filament (outboard) lamps.

Here's a link to a headlight relay thread. The main focus for this discussion is showing how the high beam lights are wired in a 4 lamp system. If you ignore the relays and wires going to the separate high beam bulbs, the rest of if replicates a two headlamp system, since the single bulbs have both high and low beam filaments in the same lamp. One leg of the dimmer drives the low beams, the other leg runs this high beams.
