I recently overhauled my '64 chevy c10. It has a 230 motor. I returned everything to stock, and it runs like a top. The problem is the gas mileage is poor (11 mpg). It's been suggested that I change carbs to a more modern one. Has anyone had success improving the mpg's on this trucks? Thanks for any advice.
My C10 has a newer (74) 250 engine with the Monojet card. I've not checked the mileage yet as I've only had the truck a couple weeks. It seems to do OK. Another thing directly effecting mileage are the rear gears. Most of these trucks came with 3.73 or 3.90 gears and they let the motor turn pretty fast. There are lower ratios that will bolt in and improve mileage, but hurt acceleration. Mike Mike
