Just recieved my new gas tank for behind the seat of my 59 Chevy truck. The tank is galvanized. Just wondering if I should prime and paint the tank before I install it or leave it bare metal. It looks like the old tank was painted on the front and un-painted on the back.

    Thanks

i would say that its up to you how you want it to look. i think if you paint it it will last a lot longer.

    Hey,

If it is galvanized it will not rust because galvanizing is a rust resistant coating.I would paint if you want it a different color.

It is depend upon you how look you want to want. But if it is galvanized it will not trust able because galvanizing is a rust resistant coating. You can paint it as different color.

I primed mine then painted it and the area behind the seat black. Came out pretty good.
