    Hi I need some help.
Does anyone know what size rocker studs come on the 1966 C-10s with a 283? I am thinking about buying some roller rocker arms and I could really use some advice. Does anyone know whether I need self alligning or not and what is the difference between 1.5 and 1.6 rockers?
    Thanks
    Brian

    Brian,

If you are running a "stock" 283, I'd spend the money on other mods first. Like manifold / carb, or headers / exhaust system, or distributor... The higher ratio rockers will give the valve more duration, meaning it will stay open a little longer (open sooner, close later). It will push the valve a little deeper into the cylinder. So the combination of the valve staying open longer and deeper you may encounter some piston contact, which won't be pretty!!! If you do want to go rollers I'd stay with the "stock" ratio.

    Just my $0.02 worth.
