Does anyone know what these center cap may have come off of? I picked them up for $20. at a flea market and they fit the factory rims that I got off of a 63. I cant find any info on any sites that I have looked on.

I believe these are off a Chevelle from about 70-72. I haven't been able to find an original photo wearing them, since almost all the studio shots were of upscale cars wearing wheel covers and whitewalls, or rally wheels.

I had an aunt with a Chevelle wagon that had a set, just can't remember the year, could even have been late 60's, or as late as the mid 70's. I thought they were pretty cool since they were exact duplicates of an aftermarket baby moon, but with the bow tie embossed in an outline. It appears someone painted the blue center on yours. In original form they were either devoid of paint, or the bowtie relief was painted black (I can't remember for sure).

These were very popular at wrecking yards since they were dirt cheap and would fit anything, but were never very plentiful - since most of these cars came with wheel covers when new. And like baby moons, they didn't survive abuse very well. An indifferent installer with a hammer could ruin one very easily.
